Mary Hanson | May 27, 1959-March 11, 2021

Mary Hanson, 61, of Fargo, went to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on March 11, 2021 from a Fargo hospital surrounded by her loving family.

Mary Louise Hejl was born May 27, 1959 in Fargo to William G. and Mary Lou (Cockerill) Hejl. Mary was baptized at Herby Lutheran Church in rural Cass County and confirmed at Martin’s Lutheran Church in Casselton. She accepted Jesus as her personal savior at early age. She grew up on the family farm near Casselton where she enjoyed every life experience that is provided by a family farm operation. She enjoyed driving a grain truck during harvest and working from sunrise to sunset in the yard growing up and later landscaping at their houses in town. Mary graduated from Central Cass High School and met the love of her life and future husband, Warren at NDSU where they both graduated in 1982. They were married August 15, 1982 at Hope Lutheran Church in North Fargo and had been married for 38 years during which time they raised two boys. She enjoyed watching them grow up and attending all their school events, volunteering at the school and even liked helping with homework. Mary thoroughly enjoyed having small dogs in her life as they were a comfort to her – Skippy, ChiChi and CoCo.

Mary is survived by her husband, Warren; two sons, Ben and Nathan all of Fargo; mother, Mary Lou Hejl of Casselton; and two brothers, Ken (Cindy) Hejl of Arthur and William A. Hejl of Amenia; and several nieces and nephews. Brother-in-law Norm (Lisa) Hanson of Epping, N.D. and Ger (Denise) Hanson of Waconia, Minn.

She was preceded in death by her father, William G. Hejl, sister-in-law, Gwen Hejl and an infant son.
